The number of participants at the second senior singles championships of the table tennis district of western upper franconia in untersiemau could have been better with 30 players. Nevertheless, there were seven more competitors than in the previous year. 28 men were in action in two age classes and in four performance classes. Since only two ladies had registered, they were the first-place winners without a fight.
Winners in both singles and doubles were bernd feulner (TV oberwallenstadt), marco stocklein (DJK teutonia gaustadt), georg herold (TTC geutenreuth) and richard gebhardt (RVC klosterlangheim).
In the younger age group (40 to 60 years) of the C-class stefan klopsch from TSV bad rodach remained undefeated (15:3 sets). Josef marschalek from TV unterwallenstadt reached 3rd place thanks to the better set result against norbert thumser from bad rodach, whom he had clearly beaten 3:0. Gar marschalek won the title in doubles with oliver voll (DJK gaustadt). However, both had to throw everything into the balance to keep the upper hand in the final match against the single winner klopsch and his partner after being down 0:2 sets (8:11, 10:12, 11:9, 11:4, 11:8).
In the D-class bernd feulner was not to be defeated in his three games (9:4 sets), however, he also had a hard nut to crack. Sascha von berg won against stefan wittmann (gaustadt) only in the fifth round (5:11, 11:8, 11:8, 8:11, 11:8). Once again on the podium at the top was feulner in doubles with stefan krajewski (TSV untersiemau).
In the E-class marco stocklein (gaustadt) did not lose a set in his five singles matches. He was also unbeatable in the doubles with his team mate georg lunz.
In the B-class of the age category 65 to 80 years the newcomer of the TTC geutenreuth georg herold (formerly TTC rugendorf) determined the event. In his four singles he only lost one set. Herold made his double victory perfect in the doubles together with ekkehard gerlicher (frohnlach). There was a double winner with richard gebhardt (RVC klosterlangheim) also in the C-class. Thanks to his strong nerves he won against arthur veth (TSV bad rodach) in the deciding set. Gebhardt did not lose a set in two of his matches, twice he won 3:1. Gebhardt and rudi gunther from SV weidach did not lose a set in their doubles final (11:7, 11:8, 11:8 against lindner/marr). Hf
